Actions have consequences and consequences give life interest and intrigue. So too in a play! You can’t just write a scene about unrelated actions, everything the characters do must somehow relate to a broader plot or idea (and must move the play forward).
The word “consequence” tends to have a negative connotation. But that doesn’t have to be the case! When we use the term, we intend it to have a neutral connotation and leave it up to your own creative interpretation (unless we say otherwise…in which case, you have to do what we say).
