As you already know, creative nonfiction as a genre must be rooted in fact and actual occurrences. This means that, unlike when writing fiction, you can’t fabricate this profile. Time to dust off those research skills again! Unless you are already a father or a grandfather, find one to interview! Draft a short question list that will allow you to gain insight into what it’s like to be in their shoes. Remember to incorporate exact dialogue, if you can. 

Don’t have access to a father or grandfather? Profile a mother or grandmother instead! Being flexible is part and parcel to being a writer.
