Remember, tension in stories, plays, and television shows often results from information that the audience has that a character in the story doesn’t possess. When you think about this scene, consider ways to exploit that tension, whether through stage directions or dialogue. 

Even though your characters will not discuss the secret in this scene, you, as the author, should certainly know what the secret is. Understanding the dynamic between the two characters and the information that lies between them will help to make your scene more compelling and realistic.
