If you’re writing from the point of view of an animal, it might feel a little strange and silly at first. However, just remember all the great works that have been told from the point of view of animals: Animal Farm by George Orwell, Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White, Watership Down by Richard Adams, The Velveteen Rabbit by Margery Williams… just to name a few. Consider how a nonhuman perspective could amplify the themes of your poem, or simply make the poem more memorable and unique.
