The Little Paris Bookshop by Nina George is a delightful novel with a similar storyline. A man owns a ‘literary apothecary’, and prescribes books for ailments of the soul. Although this prompt is not based on George’s book, it does provide a good example of the many different forms that similar ideas can take. Have an idea for a poem that becomes so long it becomes a short story? You can do both! Similar ideas need not be derivative.
