When we get more into the details of Freytag’s Pyramid, just as you heard in the video, you know that the ending is where the story’s loose ends become straightened out. The entire ending sequence in a story is going to be on the shorter side. Remember, the middle (rising action) really is most of the story. The ending includes that final peak of the pyramid (climax) sloping down (falling action) to the solution (resolution of conflict) and denouement (final ending). For as much time and energy as writers pour into the lead to grab the shirt of the reader for immediate attention, the ending has to also be given a lot of time and attention. It needs to be believable, satisfying, and hopefully unpredictable.
