2.19 PROMPT: Rhyme Scheming

Write a poem using the rhyme scheme of your choice based on one of the following prompts:

  1. Write a form poem from the point of view of something in a food pantry or medicine cabinet that has not been touched in years.
  2. A group of poetry professors from Keele University in England opened up a poetry pharmacy in the fall of 2019. People could show up and get prescriptions for poetry depending on their needs. “We believe that poetry can do so much to match or alter a mood, to assist in so many ways with good mental health,” says Deborah Alma, the pharmacy’s designated “Emergency Poet.” Here is the prompt: Write a poem that reflects your mood OR the mood of a friend right now. Somber? Anxious? Elated? Pensive? Hopeful? Determined?
  3. Write about a relationship with a friend, family member, romantic partner that created a lot of joy or pain.
