1.32 Thoughts

Getting inside the mind of the characters allows the writer to get that much closer to creating a three-dimensional character. You create an interesting tension when you have a character playing out a scene in a certain way and interacting with other characters, but his thoughts about the situation may be both surprising and revealing to the reader. For those of you who have read The Catcher in the Rye, you might agree that there are few characters in literature whose thoughts really show a character as much as Holden Caulfield.
