We are going to discuss the term rising action below, but know that when we talk about the middle of a story, it’s the scenes of rising action when the character is dealing with all the roadblocks the protagonist throws in her way. The bulk of the story comes in the middle, so if beginning, middle, and ending of a story were actually three children—you definitely want to the middle child! It is this section of the story where the issues in trying to resolve the conflict are the most difficult for the main character. With every new situation that arises while the protagonist is pursuing her goals in the story, there should be an event that takes place with a resulting effect, something that happens as a result of the thing that happened. For every cause there should also be an effect that all help connect the events in the story together.
