For 23 years, Gifted Writers Academy has inspired thousands of students to express themselves more effectively, creatively, and intellectually in an in-person classroom format. Beginning in the summer of 2020, the GWA writing essentials course focusing on fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, and drama finally made the yellow brick road journey to the online world. Students in grades 6-8 have the opportunity to join a stimulating class with peers from around the world who share their passion for creative writing.

Writers can work on their own schedule to write and take their pieces through the draft, revision, and final editing process. Kids in middle school may not have a driver’s license, but they will have more creative license here than in school.

We will meet regularly on Zoom to discuss the drafts students choose to share with their groups. Beyond the writing essentials course, there are  different options including new content, weekly writing prompts, one-to-one feedback, school essay reviews, extra assistance with language conventions and grammar, interviews with professional writers, artists, and educators, and the community forum with our academy writers.

At Gifted Writers Academy, we promise that student will complete this course as more knowledgeable and better skilled writers. We also guarantee that this is not your typical online class, and we have the puppets to prove it. Come join us!
